Avatar Languages

Avatar Languages website capture

The Requirement

A new start-up, Avatar Languages required a website presence to advertise their language teaching services to students around the world.

The Solution

Avatar Languages requested a Web 2.0 design to fit in with website designs of the companies running the technology their language school would be using, such as Skype and Second Life. Avatar Languages incorporates multiple forms, a wiki and a blog, and has been designed using PHP includes to separate code from content, allowing much simplified updating. The websites are also integrated into the online payment system, Paypal to allow students to buy lesson time, and the website determines a visitors location so that the appropriate currency is shown and passed to Paypal. Additionally, the website verifies a user's operating system language preferences, stores their choice and directs them to one of the 12 language versions of the website.

Real Free Websites has been employed on a total of 9 contracts to date with Avatar Languages. During these 9 phases, the website has expanded and developed as new issues and opportunities have come to light. This gradual approach has suited Avatar Languages as it has allowed them to focus on building their client base, while developing their website in manageable stages to meet their increasing needs.

CARE Bolivia

CARE Bolivia website capture

The Requirement

CARE Bolivia, a Non-Governmental Organisation based in La Paz, had recently commissioned a new website. However, on completion, they realised that they required additional functionality for their human resources department. Although many jobs were offered by CARE, the current human resource system involved expensive large advertisements in the national press. CARE wanted to reduce costs by displaying job offers on their website, but did not have the necessary expertise to implement this.

The Solution

Real Free Websites won the bid to produce the new human resource system. The new human resource system had to be designed to be simple to use by non-technical human resources staff. The existing website was based on Microsoft's proprietary ASP technology and so Real Free Websites, adopted ASP.NET, an upgraded version of ASP, as the code to power the new human resource system. 2 databases were required for the human resource system: one to store the administrators user details and one to store details of the job opportunities. Now CARE Bolivia's human resource department makes regular use of the new system, and allows CARE to spend a larger proportion of its money on development projects.

Testimonial

“Real Free Websites provided us with a human resource system that has made a dramatic improvement to the efficiency of our hiring process. The new interface is easy for our staff to use, and yet provides all the functionality we require. Furthermore, the efficiency and speed at which the system was made operational was a great help to us.”

Bushmasters Limited

Bushmasters website capture

The Requirement

Bushmasters is an extreme adventure company based in Guyana, South America. They needed a website to serve as their primary means of attracting clients and for communicating their trips, trip dates, and special offers.

The Solution

Real Free Websites created a dynamic website, running off databases that store trip dates, details and space availability. The website is written in PHP, MySQL and HTML 4.01 Transitional. We made extensive use of Javascript to provide menu slide effects, rollover effects and image slideshows. An "intelligent" contact form keeps track of users choices to allow for easy processing of communication received.

Testimonial

“From the very conception of our website we had reliable, quick and efficient service. Real Free Websites were able to create exactly the site we wanted. They couldn't have done a better job and we would highly recommend them. They provide excellent support, excellent personal service - and that's not always easy to find in a website builder/ host.”

Move Informant

Move Informant website capture

The Requirement

Move Informant required a Web 2.0 style website with a highly customized form to allow visitors to select utility and service provider information from a database, and which would then send multiple, customized emails directly to the service providers selected.

The Solution

Real Free Websites implemented a custom built Ajax-powered form, that allowed the form to stay small in file-size, allowing it to be fast loading and functional. The form dynamically queries database tables without the need to reload the page, allowing the user to quickly select the required information. The user details are also captured in real time and displayed in a sample email below.

Our question: How have you found the service provided?

“Excellent. I have dealt with what I imagine must be a bigger firm before and your service has been so much better than what I experienced with them. It's been great working with you, and if ever I hear of someone needing a site, I shall be sure to mention you.”

Louis Adekoya, Move Informant

Himalayan Education Lifeline Programme (HELP)

HELP website capture

The Requirement

HELP, a registered UK charity, came to Real Free Websites with a requirement for a website to establish a presence on the Internet. Their entire operation is based online, so they needed a comprehensive website that would allow potential donors, sponsors and volunteers to understand their background and goals, to make donations and sign up.

The Solution

Real Free Websites was able to meet the needs of HELP by creating a website with a number of forms that keep track of choices and allow visitors to sign up to donate to projects, sponsor children or receive additional volunteer information.

Real Free Websites continues to provide HELP with ongoing site maintenance and changes and a e-newsletter, in a relationship that has extended since 2001. The website has evolved and developed over time, with additional pages, new links, addition of a blog and most recently a complete redesign.

HELP is also currently receiving 10% of all web design payments made to Real Free Websites - money which is being used to support educational aid projects in the Himalayas.

Testimonial

“I can recommend Real Free Websites without reservation. Not only are they excellent at website design (see our website for evidence of this), but are always on hand to give advice or amendments. Combine that with flawless hosting and very reasonable costs and you have an unbeatable service.”
